Evaluation- Question 4

Here is an image I made on Photo shop showing all the software's and websites i have used for making the music video as these software's and websites were needed.
*As you can i have used Adobe Premiere to edit the music video onto, and also to add any special effects to make it look better such as fade in, fade out, dissolve, different tones, bright lighting, dim lighting etc.

*Photo shop, Picnik and Taaz were used to edit photos on to make the characters look better for the digipak and posters, and also just to edit my work and put it all together to make it look smart.

*Social network sites such as Twitter and Blogger and Facebook were used to track down new work that someone may have tweeted or uploaded onto their blogs, i have looked through some to get inspiration and motivation. Also on Twitter people all around the world tweet stuff related to music videos and such they give links which really helps me and i gain ideas from them. Also i can communicate with other people and ask about their work and how they did it, and what software's did they use. Also on Facebook your friends will tell what they think of it and can help you.

*I also used YouTube and Vimeo, this was so i could broadcast the music video to the world. Also people leave feedback and improvements which really help, as they are required when you want to achieve something and then you could improve on it.

Evaluation- Question 3

Everyone liked the treatment, they thought it was different to other music videos out there, and thought it was very unique. They liked the locations I haven chosen and thought the locations look like a good area to record in. They also gave tips on how  I should cut back on the locations as there were far too many, and this might cause a lot of time to be consumed and less time to do actual work, so this is a feedback I haven taken in very well, and have decided to cut back on the locations to help me out and the music video itself.

The class feedback and the teachers feedback I got once the music video was shown to them was to add more effects to make the music video to look more effective and it should be more 'pop-ish' as it looked very dull at that particular moment, so consequently i added a few tweaks here and there to the music video; by adding all sorts of different effects such as fade in, fade out, different tones of colours, flashes to create an emphasis on the music video and making it look better as a whole.

Also this is the feedback i got once i uploaded the final production onto vimeo and YouTube, the results were good, so overall I'm pleased with the feedback.

The class feedback and the teachers feedback I got once I shown them my digipacks was that they really liked all the different colours i used, as it stood out from the white background, and they thought my actual didipak looked far better than my sketches, as my sketches looked far too simple and my digipak had the wow factor. Also the images i used from the photo shoot they thought the way i edited them gave the extra 'Kandy Rain' effect. Also one improvement they gave was to make the picture a bit more brighter, so consequently i did do so.
Below are the images from my sketches and my actual digipak.

These images show my final pieces for everything i have created, the magazine advertisement, the YouTube link to the music video and also the digipak. The feedback i got from everyone was that they all liked it and thought i did exceptionally well. Also they thought everything went well together, for example the clothes colours in the video fit well with different coloured lighting, also the colours they each represented was symbolized in the music video and everything else, which they all a fond of. Also the music video was shown at an 'Expressive Arts Evening' and i gave everyone a questionnaire of what they thought of the music video, they all said it is very different, something they have not seen before, they would watch it again and also they gave a rating of 9/10 which is very well indeed.

Evaluation- Question 2

The music video relates to my ancillary tasks very well. The ancillary tasks were easy to do as the music video was the vision  and the masterpiece behind it. The name of the band 'Kandy Rain' made everything happen, it conveyed the words 'bright colours' into everywhere that  i could possibly include it into. The music video and the ancillary tasks both represent the band name 'Kandy Rain' very well and has left this equally suppressed.

Evaluation- Question 1- Part 4

In this part of the question, i will explain how I have used, developed or challenged real media conventions by comparing my advert that i created with other real existing adverts, which also advertise music from real artists. My music advert has a consistent house style, similar to the digipack and the music video itself, 'Vibrant Colour'.  As you can see these artists, The Saturdays, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez all have a vibrant colour which is represented, this is the first similarity i have found.  This also relates to name of the band 'Kandy Rain' its represents a splash of colour hence the name, raining luminous colours onto us. Also each individual advert has a certain unique font that stands out and looks striking, as you look at each advert you can see that.

Evaluation- Question 1- Part 3

In this part of the question, i will explain how I have used, developed or challenged real media conventions by comparing my digipak that i created with other real existing digipaks from real artists. My digipak has a consistent house style, similar to the magazine advert and the music video itself, which represents a whole range of 'Vibrant Colours'.  As you can see these artists, for example Katy Perry's digipak has a theme which is dreamland, this is the first similarity i have found, each digipak should have its own theme making it their own uniqueness.

Evaluation- Question 1- Part 2

This is my second set of images. These are my own images from my music video. These 9 images show how i have used, developed and challenged forms and conventions of real media products. Above is the frame of the 9 different images, each contains an image from my music video and below i have named each one and shown what they represent.

1)  This shot shows a link between lyrics and music and visuals. In the video 'Vanessa' sings 'A thief in the night' and as you can see she is putting her hand up in the air, representing the thief is out there somewhere up in the sky, so there is a link to the song lyrics which you can see visually.

2) This particular shot shows the way i wanted them to dress in this particular scene, in 'party outfits', as this song genre is 'Pop' therefore it is a party song, so the girls are all dressed up and are all dancing as if they were in a club or so, just having fun basically.

3) This shot illustrates how  my video  music genre would be, in my music video there is a particular scene where there are all dancing and having a fun time as they would do in a club, and as i have said above it is a party song which you listen  to and have fun with. This illustrates the pop genre in the video.

4)  This shot shows an intertextual reference, as it is a still photo which has been included in the music video, and is played along the beats, this image is a flashback of the girl, showing the meeting of the girl and boy, this a narrative for the audience so they understand on what is happening.

5) This shot demonstrates the use of camera, it shows a close-up of 'Sonya' singing and also an image of the still shot of 'Vanessa and Ally' these both images are mixed and shows an effect and emphasis. The purpose of this particular shot was to show the emotions that she was feeling for the boy.  Certain music videos include close-ups, this is to show  emotions.

6) This shot  demonstrates the use of lighting as a bright purple lighting, as each girl in the video represents a different colour, and in this particular shot is 'Vanessa' she represents the colour purple, so therefore a purple lighting has been given in her presence to add emphasis on her. Also in this part of the song she is singing a high note, the most strongest part of the song, and the colour purple is a strong rich colour, so this fits in perfectly with the lyrics.

7)  This shot shows a piece of mise en scene 'The Mic' as you can see they are singing on a mic, this relates to the song by 'Keri Hilson - The Tide Is High' in which she is also using a mic and singing in a similar pose and camera shot, so therefore this is a similar camera shot, and shows i have researched and looked at other music videos for inspiration.

8/9) I've  chosen these two shots because I got the idea of Vanessa's shoes (shot 9)  from 'Keri Hilsons' music video 'The Tide Is High'. Also in her video it shows many other shots such as jewellery, her clothes, her features, and such; which is also used in my music video. And  the shot 8 shows how different they are from all dressed up to reality, and i thought this gave a different overview and effect.

Evaluation- Question 1- Part 1

I will be using 2 sets of images, 1 of my own music video images, and the other will include images from different existing music videos. These 9 images show how i have used, developed and challenged forms and conventions of real media products. Above is the frame of the 9 different images, each contains an image of an existing music video and below i have named each one.

1) The Saturdays- Higher: This shot i can link into my own music video. This shot shows 'The Saturdays' dancing, this shot has 5 girls, where as my music video has 4 girls and they will also be dancing in a line up like this. They are also wearing party outfits, so are the girls in my own music video, so this shot definitely relates to my own music video.

2) Leona Lewis- Bleeding Love (US Version): This shot  demonstrates the use of lighting as a calm peaceful lighting, as the song is called 'Bleeding Love' it is a sad and moving song, therefore the lighting is soft to show emotion and tenderness.

3) Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed: This shot illustrates how  my video  music genre would be, in my music video there is a particular scene where there are sparkles on a dress that will shine and look blinging and this particular shot reminds me of it. This illustrates the pop genre in the video.

4) Wiz Khalifa- Roll Up: This particular shot shows the way a record company would want their artist to be represented, as 'Wiz Khalifa' is an 'American Rapper' this shot shows tattoos, bling aka jewellery, baseball jackets and graffiti, representing a typical rappers image.

5) Bruno Mars- The Lazy Song: This shot shows an intertextual reference, monkeys as being lazy, and the shot it shows he doesn't want to do anything, 'Bruno Mars' himself and the monkeys are all wearing shades and similar shirts, and doing the same pose' hence the song title 'The Lazy Song' doing the same thing and having the same transformation.

6) Mariah Carey- We Belong Together: This shot demonstrates the use of camera, it shows an over the shoulder shot, and on the shot you can see the reflection of 'Mariah Carey' on the mirror.

7) Keri Hilson- The Tide Is High: This shot shows a piece of mise en scene 'The Mic' as you can see 'Keri Hilson' is using it and singing, a mic like this was used in our music video, and also a similar camera shot.

8) Nicki Minaj- Super Bass: This shot shows a link between lyrics and music and visuals. In the video 'Nicki Minaj' sings 'Oh it be like, boom, badoom, boom, boom, badoom, boom, bass' and in the background whilst she's dancing there are 8 basses, so there is a link to the song lyrics which you can see visually.

9) Chipmunk Feat. Mavado - Every Gya: This shot i can link into my own music video. This shot shows 'Chipmunk' speaking to a girl, showing he is keeping her content and satisfied. There 4 similar shots in my own music video when all 4 girls are after 1 boy, as the one boy keeps them all happy. So this shot also relates to my music video.
